Where vice is nice and the singing is simply divine!
Take seven deadly sins, a fistful of modern vices, a pride of singers and an almost penitent pianist, for a night of pure entertainment heaven. Vocal Vices is the naughty show from Hatstand Opera that’s greedy for good tunes, lustful for laughter but not too proud to be fun!
In this day and age, it seems “Anything Goes”, and this Hatstand Opera show is definitely naughty but NICE!
You can bring your 14 year old and not be embarrassed (unless they giggle at something you don’t understand), and your granny will have a whale of a time too. Combining great songs, wonderful singing, and a ‘twinkle in the eye’ sense of humour, Vocal Vices is Hatstand’s wickedest show yet!

“Wow what a fantastic evening! It was absolutely brilliant and all those many hours of planning and preparation certainly paid off. I think we have raised the standard of how we stage fundraising events and have the makings of a fantastic template for the future.”
Ashton Gray Recruitment, on “Vocal Vices” at Exbury Gardens
The look of Vocal Vices
Designed in bright ‘ice-cream’ colours, and with the loudest zoot suits in opera, this is a cheerful and cheeky show that celebrates our foibles with great music and humour. For venues with a stage or sufficient performance space, we bring full colour hanging banners and 6ft high ‘pop-up’ banners.
Treat yourself to a divinely decadent portion of opera and operetta, garnished with show tunes, and seasoned with songs you can’t help but hum along with. Our sinful selection includes:
[list style=”arrow” color=”orange”]
- adorable avarice from Bernstein’s “Candide”
- a very Popular “Wicked” witch
- highly respectable lust from Franz Lehar
- duelling divas from Mozart
- gorgeous gluttony from Gilbert & Sullivan
- and even a little bit of Tom Jones…
Age Range: 14 – 94+
Content: opera and musical extracts that feature a deadly sin – or three – presented in Hatstand’s unique informal style. With the emphasis on entertainment, you can be sure every sinner gets their just desserts!
[three_columns ][list style=”check” color=”white”]
- any venue or event with an established classical music or opera audience – theatres, arts festivals, music societies, open air events, etc.
- We have performed this at various churches and church missions, but do please check with your vicar first that they are OK with it!
