Historic Shows and Commissions
At Hatstand Opera, we’re continually inventing new shows for clients, some of which go on to become regular touring shows, and others that are so specific that they have their two performances in the limelight, and are not revived.
In the process of creating bespoke shows, we always discover superb new music, which is then included in our touring shows such as “Golden Moments from Opera”, to keep them fresh and interesting for both audience and performers!

For schools, colleges and communitiesThe kind of shows Hatstand Opera create
At Hatstand, we can create a show themed around almost any subject or location – we’ve managed it for a conference of cardboard box manufacturers and the Tank Museum Bovingdon!
We are particularly fond of creating bespoke shows around other art forms, be it literature, such as the Rubaiyat show, or paintings, such as the Opera Grand Tour.
And needless to say, we also enjoy creating shows around food and wine, such as our Music of the Vine and the one-off wonder that was Music of the Pan.
How to create a show with Hatstand Opera
Creating a show is as easy as calling us on 01252 511762 and discussing your ideas. Don’t worry if they seems a bit left-field, we’re used to that. The main criteria is simply that the audience needs to be able to see us and hear us to enjoy us – the rest is just logistics! See our Case Studies for more examples of how we created some truly unique shows for clients.
Do you stage full length operas?
We’ve only ever performed one full-length opera, Rossini’s Love’s Luggage Lost, and while we enjoyed it tremendously (as did audiences in London and Exeter), we have no plans to do another.
